This is implemented right now - if you share in buddies-only mode, only those in your buddy list will have the key to your WiFi delivered to them, every other Whisher user will be left out. In private mode, not even your buddies, just those users you have added as VIP.

Best regards,

Mike

Hi,

As I said before - I fully support the WHISHER project!

Having now read the other thread ( http://forum.whisher.com/viewtopic.php?t=35 ) about how WHISHER redistributes WEP keys - and in particular the way in which the WEP key is encrypted - I am now fairly positive about the integrity of access to my network.

I am however still worried about people I don't know having access to my network - is there anyway to stop people accessing my network - ie - the only private (LAN) IP address they can access is the gateway?

(Or some other simpler way that I haven't thought of)

Andy

EDIT:
For a quick fix - i am going to give Freddys third signal for La Fonera a go....

Many wifi APs support "AP isolation". Check your AP manual for options. Depending on their implimentation, this feature could keep the wifi clients separate from LAN clients, and even keep wifi clients from seeing each other.

Let me know if the APs you are trying to manage are encrypted and registered, if so, send me the SSIDs via private message so I can look at what could be the problem.

I have some remarks ...

I remember vagely that with the old whisher client you could download a list of "whisher-added" ap's for your country/region... I don't find this option anymore in the newer versions...

I also notice that when adding an AP the geopositioning only finds "belgium" and "west-vlaanderen"... but at city level it stops finding... (Google Maps can perfectly locate upto my street level without me changing any spelling)

I also notice you have an old AP of mine located totally wrong... i guess it's because when geopositioning by hand... the access point icon changes as well without me clicking...

although my "old ap" was registered with my whisher account; there is no way of editing or deleting it... I have to rename perhaps my current AP 's SSID if you aren't using the MAC adres ???? or how can I get invalid previously added ap's out of your list?
